I hope to get a lot out of Rasmussen College. The obvious is I am going to earn a degree. I figured I would start with my two year degree in Marketing and Sales. However I don’t want to stop there. I then would like to earn my Bachelors degree in Marketing.
As for most people they like to call a degree “a piece of paper”, however for me it is much more. In my opinion most high school grads go on to college because that is what is expected of them. “The American Way”, I did not do that because I had to get a job to help support my family.
I have been out in the real world working hard to become someone. Over time I have realized that college will make me an even better someone. I am going to succeed at the highest standards, by this I am not going to have a piece of paper, but I am going to walk with my shoulders high, carry a wealth of knowledge and be a better person. This is also going to make me stronger for my future family. I will be able to help better my children lives and encourage them to attend college as well.
When I am finished with earning my degree I will be able to start a new life, with a new attitude and work in a field of choice.
Have you considered going back to school? Or are you already enrolled, if so, why did you go back? I’d love to hear your stories…do tell.

Why I chose Rasmussen College
Why I chose Rasmussen College?
I chose Rasmussen College after extensive research in several areas. These areas include:
• Do they have online courses?
• Are they competitive with cost per credit?
• Can I transfer my credits to another school?
• What is the staff like?
These were all key questions that I found very important when picking a college.
Only online classes for me
Whether or not they had online courses for me to take was a huge determining factor for me because I was only going to be able to do courses online. I am a fulltime employee with a non-consistent schedule; therefore having to go to class at a campus was not going to work for me. I found that Rasmussen has a couple different schools that they work with, so if one of my classes was not available at one school they could sign me up at another. This was great! I am able to take all my classes online that I need for my degree.
Paying for college
Cost, obviously was a very important since I was going to be the one paying for everything myself. I found Rasmussen to be very competitive with the cost per credit. They also offer three different financial aid packages. They use FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). I was not even aware of these programs existing. I found it to be exciting and ended up using some of the programs.
Finding a job after graduating
I was very concerned that once I finish school, what was I going to do? How was I going to find a job? That’s when I learned that Rasmussen College helps students find a job once they finish with their degree. This was a huge stress reliever!
Conditioning on to earn a bachelor’s degree
Once I finish with my two-year degree I can continue on to earn my Bachelors Degree. What I learned is that Rasmussen is a Regional Accredited school, which means if I choose to attend another school for my bachelor’s degree my credits may be accepted at any University. This is Huge! I was telling my friends about this and they learned that the schools they had attended where not. Most people are not even aware of this. This is pretty scary, huh?
What really separates Rasmussen from the bunch…
Lastly, the number one, most important deciding factor for me was the Rasmussen staff. Most people don’t think about the staff when picking a college, however for me it is important. When interviewing different Colleges I found that the staff at Rasmussen was friendly and very eager to assist me with all of my needs. Thanks staff!!

My First Week of Class
My first week of class was nerve racking for me. Being a first time online student can be a little intimidating. I have so much to learn about the Rasmussen portal, teachers, understanding how to read the syllabus and so much more. Although I seemed to be getting around the website…I still had some doubt that I was doing everything right.
My first week of class was a little more work than I was ready to take on; at least that is what I thought. Once I started reading the syllabus and figuring out how the system worked, I then began my first class discussion. What a rush!
Then the teacher gave me an assignment that I had to do by the end of the week. I was a little worried, because I wasn’t sure if I was doing the assignment right. What if my font was wrong, and so on…
As I had questions, I used Angel to reach out to my Instructor to find out the answers. The teacher was so quick to respond to my questions. What a great benefit for students! This helped answer my questions and put me at ease. The good news is that I was doing everything right, but having that validation really made a difference.
It took me several hours to complete my first week assignments, but I know each week will get easier for me. I made it through the first week! I was very eager to see my grades- to see how I did on the assignments. I actually received 100 points for both!
